A close friend of mine visited Andaman and Nicobar recently for some research work. He informed me that in one of the Nicobar Islands there is a temple built by Raja Raja Cholan. This island is mentioned as nangavaram in old Tamizh Literature it seems. But unfortunately this is not accessible as its a dense forest. Its a 2-3 day travel in the island to reach the temple. Any idea / inputs about this temple?
Count me in. But its not that easy as we think. This is in the island called Greater Nicobar. If we are planning to go then I am there in fact I can bring in my friend who is a scientist, who actually heard about all this and was in Andaman and Nicobar for a couple of months.
Hi Vk nicobar is inhabited by many tribes which still dont use fire.
in fact these tribes reportedly sensed the tsunami much before it happened and fled to the interiors of the islands.
I think we need special permission to venture into most of these islands. but anyway these islands are known for volcanic acivity, earth quakes and toreential rain being almost on the equator. so what remains after a 1000 years must be very little.
yes & agreed. Let us explore its current condition.... Who knows some copper plates or stone inscriptions that change the history could be found there!
jet air and indian fly to port blair. there yiu have t take a permission to go to nicobar. and of course a lot of insurance, for alot of these tribes are supposed to be head hunting tribes.
