I am from madurai ( pandiyarin thalai nagaraam , mannum thamizh manakkum , sangam vaiththu thamizh vaLartha madurai - shorta sollanumna :) ). There is a small town called "vadamadurai " exists even today. ITs confusing a bit then.....And regarding the version (??!!) of todays madurai, i think this is third. First one is burnt by "kannagi". Second one is submerged in sea. The third one is the present one if i am correct :).
