Venkat was talking high of Writer Sujatha and the Srirangathu (Devadaigal - which is also included in the) Kathaigal. Appears his friend Desigan attended Venkat's stall in the Book fair. This Desigan is very much informative and interesting gentleman ardent writer of Sujatha.
That reminded me of another Srirangam Story ::
During Malik kafur invasion, several Hindus were forced into comnversion and women molasted.
The " Devadasis " of Srirangam temple planned to avenge : they voluntarily availed 'Aids'type discease and spread to Mohammaden soldiers !
This was later-on well recognised by the Srivaishnavites and two customs were followed :
1. The Fire for their funeral - pyre was sent from the Agni of Sriranganathar Temple Madappalli;
2. The " vaaykarisi " (last rice - food before setting fire) was also from the Sriranganathar Temple Madappalli !
No doubt Srirangam stories are always very much interesting !
I was introduced to Mr. desigan only this book fair. not sure whether he even remembers me. witht he teeming crowds there no time for interaction though. but his sketches of srirangam in the sugatha book were stunning. the only book I bought in the fair.other than a full set of ponniyin selvan from vanathi pathipagam. I already have six sets of six different eras.but then nothing like a fresh book aint it. venketesh
