(Taking a point from Venkat sir's reply from the Lord Macaulay's thread)
I was just wondering what would have happened to India if Brits never came here or never were able to come in to power? I think India would be atleast 10 independent countries, always fighting with each other for water, power and other basic necessities. India owes to the Brits atleast for bringing together us all in the freedom struggle againt them and India really owes sardar patel a lot for this.
sardar himself integrated 570 states- or so. and all of them had an alliance with the british. and the territory that thy occupied must have been less than 30% of todays india. kashmir,hyderabad and gwalior were the biggest. we would have been one big mess but for this integration.
