Good.
Now i dont understand the following:
Fact: By the First person: a ‘moorthi’ is a term normally used to refer to an idol
> > > that is sanctified and under worship. An idol is an imitation of a
> > > moorthi that belongs in a museum or a showcase.
> > > >
> > > > The Nataraja inside the sanctum of chidambaram and the nataraja in
> > > my pooja room are moorthis. The Nataraja in my showcase is an idol
> > > that does not have any spiritual energies and is there fore a
> > > showpiece.
Second Person:
That rule is not applicable to ganesh. The moent a ganesh moorthi is made, it becomes ganesh.
Proof: That is why it is kept in River/Tank bankor under arasamaram without even a pradishtai or ashtabandanam and worshipped.
Further proof: Even if a keep a cowdung and call him a pillayar and he becomes a pillayar. Though the ashtabandana, avahayami and yadasthanam procedures are done for him like other gods, he also has a procedure of non pradishta worship.
The person who wants to do pooja at home need to take a mandrpoadesam from Guru or to worship the hereditory idol from father. The Ganesh Chadurthi is dose not call for it. No Mantropadesam or Pranapradishta required. you can simply take a ganesh idol and worship.
The second person mentioned that ganesh idol cannot be a show piece.
First Person:Again we had another example just today in a regular discussion when someone said a Ganesha idol ‘cannot’ be an exhibit – that is a belief, not a fact. Ganesha idols are exhibits in museums all over the world.
Second Person: When we say the showitself not allowed then where is the question of museum. The Display of idols at spl time like Navaratri Golu, It has a Kalsah symbolising the prana pradishta, Sundal offerring for pooja and the symbolic sleeping on the last day.
The foriegn museums are places where the idols are lootedfrom a country and kept. There is no religious sanction for a museum. I will correct myself if there is a sanction for it.
The new idols if kept in display w.o pranapradishta, half heartedly we can watch but that is not applicable for pillayar.
Second Person: Trust it is not views but facts. You cannot brush aside this.
This is what the second person wanted to point out that in the discussion. That is why the current day Ganesh Visarjan are opposed by many and people are asking for aproper visarjan.
We are not giving silly sentiments but facts. Now instead of arguing with facts with the second person, what really happens is.
First person: People are sentimental. I will not write.
Third Person. You dont know anything. You have never seen a Ganesh.
3a Person: No mavu and Idiyappam.
3b person: what Pranapradishta ( as if that No2 has used the word). Are you Intellectually superior? Are you great saint to do? Do you want pillayar to worshipped the way you want? Are the people buying Ganesh idols are fools?
Is this a discussion or simple expressing some thing beacuse they donot want to have an alteranate opinion.
Correctme if i am wrong?
since leaving to Coastal, i will reply to your views tomarrow. If you pin point the mistakes of the second person, he is ready for correcting himself.
