All,

The existing site (http://www.ponniyinselvan.in) is forum based
which doesn’t fit well with all type of contents since it is basically
for members to post messages, doesn’t play well with articles, pages,
etc.,

I have been working on a new site which is in beta which is Drupal
(http://www.drupal.org) based

You may find some instability while visiting the site, please bear
with me and try few times if you get error “500 Internal Server
Error”.

That’s a pleasing interface. Do you plan to have the mail archives in
the site as well? or is it already there? I think this interface will
fit our forum well. If we could make other members think of the site
if they want to search something from the archive, that would be a
great success for your amazing work and effort. (bow)

Here are answers for queries raised.

1. Where is the yahoo group messages ?

It is not there yet, as I mentioned in the TODO list of blog post, I
haven’t integrated it yet. Without the messages the site is not
complete as the main crux of the group is the messages, will work on
it and let the group know once it is complete

2. Provision to list members -

I would be very glad to do if members will be willing to update their
profile. But if you ask me I wouldn’t be putting/updating my personal
information on a public site. This is not high priority task for me
now.

3. Separate provision to invite new members. -

Yahoo Group is still the source for most of the content(users,
messages, photos, etc.,), members were not interested to use the
existing forum site as the source, so there will not be any invite at
the site, even if there is one, it will ask to subscribe yahoo group
and they would be automatically added at the site.

4. Other Ideas.

I will be more willing to add them if it would benefit everybody,
of course when I can do that is based on priority and my availability.

5. Contribution/Volunteering

There are tons of things we can do to improve the site and make it as
a one stop portal for tamil history, I am a technie that’s it, all I
can do is present the content in a nice way, I can’t make content
particularly history. And we have asked several times about creating
articles out of existing threads, but no response. If members are
willing to contribute to add more content or idea to the site, we can
make it as a big success.

We can create a separate small task group, exchange and contribute
content, idea. etc.,

We should have a open section and free registration section if people want to link in
There should be a Link section with lings to Varalaaru.com, Reach, the bigtemple.com, the archeological course
as all these were offshoots of the group
