Vijay,
WOnderful. Awesome structure. My god, think of the means they would
have used to accomplish this. Your photos on ellore were also mind
blowing. Any idea how this buddha statue is promoted in China? I mean
the historic value and the tourist attraction.
Its a sad state that no one gives much importance to places like
Ellora or mallai to the extent it deserves attention. When i visited
Mt.Rushmore in the US with the four presidents face carved on the
rock, I was wondering how the accomplished this. The museum over there
explained that 95% of the work was done using dynamites. bussnu pochi.
I was thinking of the sculptures skill but when I learnt only 5% is
manual work (though I appreciated the precision by which the dynamites
were used) I really felt bad thinking about our structures in India.
Ellora – entirely with chisle and hammer..what a mammmoth task. And do
we really promote our history to the extent it deserves?
Regards,
Satish
