Think like a tamil for once and translate it into tamil.
=======================

Dr. Asokan and his wife Dr.Pushpanjali are running a clinic in
Thirukazhukundram, Kanchi Dt. Their son HITENDRAN (aged 16) was
studying XI std in a Private School. He has a brother - Laxman.

Saturday evening he met with an accident in his mobike and from
Chingleput Hospital he was moved to Appollo Teynampet (Chennai -
South)... Inspite of proper attention, HIS BRAIN BECAME DEAD .. yet
some of his organs were functioning.

Realising the END, his Doctor parents, requested Appollo to make use
of his functioning-organs..

In LIFELINE HOSPITAL - MUGAPPAIR (Chennai-West / outskirt ) a 9 year
old girl was needing a HEART ! By road, it normally takes about 45 -
60 mts to cover this distance from Teynampet... and if the HEART
does not reach in less than 30 minutes, the whole attempt would be
futile...

The HEART OF HITENDRAN was surgically taken out, preserved in ice-
box (seeing this his parents are crying with folded Hands !) and an
Ambulance - in readiness started towards Lifeline.. with a Pilot Car
of Asst.Commissioner Mr. Manoharan !

Chennai Police Commissioner - Mr. Sekar - has ordered stoppage of
vehicular movement in the route and

The Ambulance reached LIFELINE in 10 minutes time and Dr. Cherian
handled the surgeory successfully and the 9 year old girl is
alive .. bearing the heart of OUR BELOVED HITENDRAN !

HITENDRA's EYEs are donated to Shankar Netralaya to a needy one ..

His lungs, lever and whatever functioning were used in Appollo
Teynampet for needy patients.

Their Parents observed ::

Their son's heart will be still beating .. thinking of its mother
(and father )

His eyes will be still seeing.. !

HITENDRAN IS STILL ALIVE THROUGH OTHERS BODIES !!

The Family is really THIYAGA SIGARAM !

OUR SINCERE PRAYERS ..

AND VERY BEST REGARDS TO HIS PARENTS WITH OUR FOLDED HANDS .. !

And our best regards to the Team of Doctors, Medical support, Police
and the Press - for motivating us towards more positive direction.

Kathie, do try coming down south and am sure you will enjoy driving
much better. People are courteous to a fault and in turn expect
courtesy, there is always enough room between cars and rarely honking
or cutting people off. It does happen but nothing in comparison to
New York or Boston.

I have become so used to it that I have a problem driving elsewhere.
What problem I can't drive. I can't even cross a street in Bangalore
without help, trust me, the way Bangalore is now. I tried once last
time and signal dropped while I was half way across the street and
they all started moving. Am standing there like a cow, looking
totally lost and people abusing me as they drive around. Sad state.
Not sure if I will ever get used to it though.

Malathi

Dear Satish,
In US, when someone does something rude when driving,
they're careful never to make eye-contact with the driver they've
cut off.

A guy here wrote an essay telling how every morning he read a book,
holding it on the steering wheel, commuting Rte. 2 from
Concord to Boston! [ an extremely dangerous main road ]

Hi sathih,
The way people try to overtake and go through every possible gap makes your blood boil.Inspite of them coming on the wrong side they glare at you as if you are on the wrong.I ask my driver to drive and i try to read a book to get over my tension at seeing their so called road sense.

Dear Doctor Sridhar,

Very nice observations..

Good pointer Sri and a good response SPS.

I take it this way. When this news is read by all in the city, atleast
a few will realize that only if the ambulance can reach in time, the
life can be saved. Next time they see a blue light, they might
remember this and try to make way for the ambulance. If even 1 in 1000
does this, I would say, its a great success towards betterment. Hope
things will change.

The only thing I hate in India is this discipline (especially road
sense). It gives me high BP whenever I drive. Initially I used to
fight with everyone on the wrong side, but later gave up, thinking its
bad for only my health and no use. So I just listen to Radio mirchi
and enjoy my waiting time :) what else can one do?

Hi Shanthi,

This " gesture " by the family kindled some personal emotions in me too.

About 20 years back,my younger brother met with a road accident and
inspite of proper medical attention by KMC (Kilpauk Medical College)
could not survive ..

Sensing the end, when I contacted my father (who was out of Chennai
then) - controlled his cry and advised me to permit KMC to take out
whatever organs needed by them ... which I complied with (which
included his pair of eyes too.)..

This happened on the night of a 7th Dec (Flag Day).

When I brought Him (it ?) wrapped, my parents did not prefer to unwrap
and just we moved ahead for cremation..

That photo published yesterday when Hitendran's parents crying with
their hands folded looking at the Ice-box conaining his heart..has
evoked so much of emotions.. buried deep inside for the past 2 decades.

Dear Satish ,

You are right .. I totally agree with you

I would like to add few points in this occassion .

1. Why don't the government bring an yellow lane system specially for the
ambulance? and let us make an Oath here that, we will always give way to the
Ambulance in traffic.

2. Why don't we have a Blood group database of our members which would help
ppl who are in real need of it.

3. Why don't we have a blood donation camp during any of our Yathra's ?

Pls correct me if i'm wrong.. I have written things watever came into my
mind..

Thanks and Regards

Yes Shanthi,

During the time of crisis we seldom think in those lines even if we
wanted to do it. First is awareness and second is the situation that
makes many to forget that they can donate the eyes even after death. I
experienced this myself. Two years back when my grandfather died, I
got a call from my father and the first thing I said is,let me go to
beasant nagar and book a slot for the next day before coming home. By
the time I did that and came home it was evening and as soon as I went
to see my Grandfathers body, the first question I asked was, exactly
how many hours have passed. i was told 3 hours, and the next question
i asked was, can we donate the eyes, we have only 3 more hours? All my
athais, my grandmother, my parents no one thought about it and my
grandmother was so happy that she asked me, can we really do it. In
next 1.5 hours the doctors came and took the eyes and till date my
grandmother feels happy about it and tells that if not for you we
could have never done this. vaazhkayila naan panna oru urupadiyana
kariyam...till date

Dear Doctor Sridhar,

Very nice observations..

As you are aware, in Chennai, only while VIPs convoy is moving,
vehicular movement used to be stopped...

In this case it is done for a common man !

I agree with you that while attending one emergency, other might have
been affected ... But now a days Traffic sargents are having hand-
phone and such emergencies can also be attended to.

Attitude of Police personnel is also motivated to be people-friendly
of late - by those in Power.

Their team undergoes Yoga / Stress management courses etc.,
Versatile and Scholarly persons give lectures in their Academy...
Experienced respected officers (like ADGP Vijaykumar) are sharing
their experience with the lower ranks and involving them not only in
tougher operations, but also in handling emergencies..

Prison, Training, Administration Heads and others are doing their
best to support Law and Order and in reducing crime rates in TN. In
comparison with population and growth rate, the crime graphs are on
the decline... any how their web-sie may talk more of this !

Though political interference cannot be totally ruled out in present
day system world-around, the assistance of Police in handling fire
hazard in T Nagar recently and the subject we are discussing, are
pointers of better efficiency and versatality of the Police in
Tamilnadu in the recent past.

Today's print-media has reported the subject in detail with
photographs too.

with best regards,

sps

Dear All
Its a moving story and has an impact...
There a few glitches in the story the heart can be transported
within hours if prepared well. Myocardial protection its called....

It was great the ACP and Commissioner stopped vehicles to let the
heart pass but how many more died waiting for this convoy pass???

Do we need ACPs for a medical emergency?

I heard when ponmudi had a MI they closed the entire GST road to
get him from Vilupuram to Ramachandra..... interesting isnt it!!

We have to learn to respect bluelights in INDIA, our country....the
only place where I have seen people ignore bluelights in the west is

newyork....

I lost my father as it took 45 minutes for my sister to travel .75
kms and the ambulances refused to come citing the rush hour of inner

ring road as a reason!! A fit man with a sudden respiratory arrest
died of brain death because of lack of medical transport in our
Metro!!

Its an Eyeopener  and the name Cherian still carries the same
charm the man pioneered anything and everything in cardiac surgery in

indian and did it first....

Its an Eyeopener  and the name Cherian still carries the same
charm the man pioneered anything and everything in cardiac surgery in

indian and did it first....

Realising the END, his Doctor parents, requested Appollo to make
use
of his functioning-
organs..

In LIFELINE HOSPITAL - MUGAPPAIR (Chennai-West / outskirt ) a 9
year
old girl was needing a HEART ! By road, it normally takes about 45 -

60 mts to cover this distance from Teynampet... and if the HEART
does not reach in less than 30 minutes, the whole attempt would be
futile...

The HEART OF HITENDRAN was surgically taken out, preserved in ice-
box (seeing this his parents are crying with folded Hands !) and an
Ambulance - in readiness started towards Lifeline.. with a Pilot
Car
of Asst.Commissioner Mr.

His
lungs, lever and whatever functioning were used in Appollo
Teynampet for needy patients.

Their Parents observed ::

And our best regards to the Team of Doctors, Medical support,
Police
and the Press - for motivating us towards more positive direction.

Dear All
Its a moving story and has an impact...
There a few glitches in the story the heart can be transported within hours
if prepared well. Myocardial protection its called....

It was great the ACP and Commissioner stopped vehicles to let the heart
pass but how many more died waiting for this convoy pass???

Do we need ACPs for a medical emergency?

I heard when ponmudi had a MI they closed the entire GST road to get him
from Vilupuram to Ramachandra..... interesting isnt it!!

We have to learn to respect bluelights in INDIA, our country....the only
place where I have seen people ignore bluelights in the west is newyork....

I lost my father as it took 45 minutes for my sister to travel .75 kms and
the ambulances refused to come citing the rush hour of inner ring road as a
reason!! A fit man with a sudden respiratory arrest died of brain death
because of lack of medical transport in our Metro!!

Its an Eyeopener and the name Cherian still carries the same charm the man
pioneered anything and everything in cardiac surgery in indian and did it
first....

SPS,

Really my eyes watered while reading this. Only because of such people
we are getting rains. A noble gesture. To think of such thing in the
time of distress is really great. Many people, who want to do good
also forget such things in the state of shock when someone dies in
their family.

In one persons death, 4 or 5 other people survived. Thats the backbone
of our dharma - as krishna says in mahabartham, to protect one family,
its ok to sacrifice one member, to protect one village its ok to
sacrifice one family and to protect a country, its ok to sacrifice one
village.

There are many unsung heros out there, who sacrifice a lot for the
sake of others. Recently Inspector Sharma of Delhi who lost his life
fighting terrorist. The soldiers in border...
The group of scientist working for the chandrayan project - it would
be once in many days when they visit their family. We have heroes
around us, but seldom fail to recognize them.

Thanks for bringing this family of heros to light.

Regards,
Satish
