One suggestion!!!! can people in our group try to compose another song of their own which can represent all the facets of India as it exists at present / quote an already existing song which can atleast make an attempt to be as our national anthem apart from "Bande Mataram and Janagana .."?
Can we try to do this???? or am i discussing anything extraneous to the objectives of the group????
Unfortunately, most islamic friends (who are converts, or descendents of converts) especially from our Tamilnadu seldom know this meaning. I have personally questioned many a islamic acquainance who just blinked when I wished to know the meaning of "Allah" as known to him. If only they knew the actual meaning of the pharases they use............... Because very few of them get the chance to attend their "madarasa" they just repeat every prayer or saying without ever knowing its meaning.
A mother is treated by any child, as one equal to if not more than "God" himself.
Thus there really is no chance for even a islamic member objecting to the worship of his mother.
This is on the lighter side - anyone who feels disturbed, kindly excuse me.
In my boyhood, when I never knew Hindi, and whenever I heard the song Vande Mataram, it always sounded like "vandhu yematharome" which was a fitting song for the political party which was usually singing it and was in power. (I am however 66 years old now and know its meaning and purpose).

Your point is valid, but i feel its your opinion ... I like to narrate a couple of incidents I have come across. Again no offense meant to the muslim community , just recalling what I came across.
almost 10 years back, when I was doing my B.Sc in Loyola college,we guessed he is a muslim. We friends used to go to the Football ground for lunch and used to chat leisurely over there. This particular classmate was also with us. During one of the cricket seasons, we were discussing about cricket and Indai-Pak match was going on that day. We were talking in favour of India,(as any Indian does) and were saying that Muslims will always support Pak, though they are indian. Since we had a Muslim member in the group, we wanted to clarify with him and asked him straingt, "whom do you support?". He was stunned by the question (was obvious from his face) and managed and stammering told us(we were nearly 10 people around) "my parents always suports Pakistan, but I support India"...oru panai sothukku oru soru padam.
I have even heard from my Girl Friends(ayyo tappa nenaikadeenga naan appadi patta payan ella, I meant my friends who are girls)who studied in SIET, that during India-Pak mathches, all the college girls(almost all are muslims, since its a muslim college)used to listen to the commentry on the transister and shouts whenever Pak team hits a sixer or gets a wicket and openly will be shouting slogans in favour of Pakistan.
If such were the sitiation, 50 years after Independence, with a generation who never witnessed the partition, freedom struggle etc, we can very well imagine what would have been the mind set of people during pre independence era. Its a bitter fact that 1947 partition not only split the geography, but also the hearts...which is still prevailing...

I saw your message only today. I have been on the move. Give the devil its due. efficiency in sports and elsewhere (like in Pakistan International Airlines) has to be appreciated, by one and all, whether the opinion is from an islamic member or others.
My son, who is a devout Hindu and will even die for the cause of Hinduism, does applaud Pakistani team whenever they score well!
Dear members, Cricket match is not a deciding factor. Why we should mix with a Game & Politics. Game may end within a day or two. The reason behind every match is different. Unofficially crores of rupees Betting is happened in last year Indian team's Pakistan tour.there is big Betting money is there than the patriotism.This is a truth.Everyone has to accept.
Now Pakistan also thinking for more co-operation from India.Yesterday they released a big crowd of prisoners for the mutual co-operation.
