Clarification/Confirmation Need on Raja Raja and Rajendra Chola.
  • Hello Folks,
I came across a statement in wikipedia. Only four kings in Indian History have not lost a war at all. They are, Chandra Gupta Maurya, Ashoka, Raja Raja Cholan and Rajendra Cholan. Expert Opinions please.
    Thank you,
  • Thats a good piece of information.
One is a grand father - grand son duo and another is a father son duo...
Genetics does play a major part in acheivements :)
  • Can we add Rajadhiraja also in the list - Though he died in the battle - the war was ultimately won.

    What about Pandyas?
  • Dear Friends,

Please add Emperor Narasimha Pallavar I (Great Mamalla Narasimhar) also
in this elite group of Kings who have not defeated in the battle and also
    Pandiyan Nedunchezhian, Cheran Sengottuvan.

Mauryas - Emperor Chandragupta Maurya , Emperor Ashoka
    Pallavas- Emperor Narasimha Pallava
Chozha - Emperor Raja Raja Choza and Emperor Rajendra Choza
    Pandiya- Pandiyan Neduchezian
    Chera- Cheran Senguttuvan

Could you please anyone validate above and let us know in case of any
    corrections or clarifications.
  • Dear Friends,

We hear of MATHIRAIYUM EEZHAMUM KONDA PARAKESARI - Parantaka I.
We hear of MATHIRAIYM EEZHAMUM KONDA RAJAKESARI - Sundara
We hear of Rajaraja of his Overseas Conquests.
And of Course RAJENDRA - the Greatest - who set his foot on War in the Overseas too - as recognised by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru .
And I recall of having read of NARASIMHA PALLAVA sent a Fleet to Lanka in the early 7th Century.
Any other Emperor/s - we discussed so far with such distinction ?
Because to lock horn with an Enemy out side India means familising with such enemy's linguistic, cultural details and war-tricks too !

  • what about Harsha?

did he loose a war with Pulikesin or was that a draw- they had an agreement to keep Narmada river as border.
  • why don't we add Karikalan in this elite list
  • There were seven kings

    1. Chandragupta maurya
    2. Ashoka
    3. Samudra Gupta
    4. Karikala Chozhan
    5. Narasimavarma Pallavan
    6. Raja raja Chozhan
    7. Rajendra Chozhan

    Check in wikipedia..
  • Dear Friends,

Yes, I have missed Karikal Chozhan from the elite group sorry.

Regarding Emperor Harshavardhanar. There are 2 theories are as per
below - need more clarification on these 2 theories.
    * Harsha was defeated by Pulikesi II
    * Pulikesi had a ceasefire between Harsha as there were no final victory for
both of them and Emperor Harsha had agreed for that Ceasefire.
Mauryas - Emperor Chandragupta Maurya , Emperor Ashoka
    Pallavas- Emperor Narasimha Pallava
Chozha - Karikala Chozan, Emperor Raja Raja Choza and Emperor
    Rajendra Choza
    Pandiya- Pandiyan Neduchezian
    Chera- Cheran Senguttuvan
