Reading the mails after a few days. i was really taken aback to see maisl from SPS. I thought he wont log in for atleast next 10 days. This shows his love and committment to PS. Loosing his mother just a couple of days back (on friday late afternoon) - deep condolences SPS. Lucky was his mother to be cremated on vaikunda ekadasi and he was feeling satisfied for that atleast, because he said, his mother had uttered atleast a kodi rama namam. May her soul rest in peace.
Topics reagarding VD, the scenes from PS - my god. I envy all your memory powers. I dont remember most of it and vaguely remember the story line. I read PS 7 years back and was so much fascinated that for next 5 years I didnt read any other novels except for a few like Vengayin mainthan, manipallavam. Only recently started to read novels and that too english again, thanks to Venkatesh and this group for many suggestions on good books.
I thought of reading PS for second time, two years back, ofcourse influenced by this group, took almost a year to finish 4 volumes, and fifth dragged for almost a year and still dragging and I am yet to complete even half way through. Main reason, I personally feel, while spending time to read a book second time, I can wisely(???!!!) spend reading a new book.
Recently came across Madan's (Madan U Srinivas illa 'cartoonist' Madan) comment on similar topic of 'which is his favourite book which her reads frequently - he answered - ditto my same point. (great men think alike :) nane sollinda than undu :( )
like droplets of water on a lotus leaf, he is one layer above all of us.
when he came to the beach meeting itself his mother was in the hospital. he spoke most of the time and the most interesting topics.we never realised the condition of his mother was so bad.
and he was so composed on the death of his mother when i saw him I thought " will nothing ever shake this man?"
I suppose we should all pray for the departed soul rather than offer condolences to sps. he is much above all that.
Have been a bit dormant last year will try to participate more and share the work load of my fellow moderators. Very interesting debates and discussions.
