Bhakthi Movement
  • Hi,
On the thread "Temples and Forts of Tamil Nadu ", a bit earlier there
was a discussion on bakthi movement. SPS sir had responded earlier on
this, which induced me to extend the discussion further.
There were few pointers or extension I had felt. I request discussion
and expert opinions on these extensions. I intend to place them one at
    a time.
One - Adi Shankar who had a significant role on re-emergence of
hinduism by the end of 8th century, seems to be (from my limited
knowledge) missed in most temples or very little references made.
Was there any impact of Adishankara in Chola, Chera and Pandiya region
    then.

Requesting your pardon - as I am changing the subject line to "Bhakthi
    Movement" for the thread.

adi sankarar and manikavaskar have not been properly dated at all.
a big lacuna exists and personal bias( the earlier the better) works to a great extent.

heard somewhere that sankara mentions sambanda.

    Hi venkatesh

Checked, this is the ref. Shankara is said to have called Sambandar as
    Dravida Sisu.
