I was missing this group for a very long time. I had a relocation to UK. I am currently in Pune, flying to Chennai next week and back to UK with my loving Family.
I request something from this group. Can someone help me in my project of Tamil Comics. It is awaiting a start from scratch. Needs help in your views of Software, Images, etc.
I request your views on this.
Don't ask me about Animation movie. I am extremely sorry. The investment, manual work, copyright issues and other issues are really tough to manage, at least at this stage.
The intention for this comic books on Tamil and in Tamil is. The childrens across the Tamil World, will need grooming from their young age. I once heard Singapore and Malaysia are thinking about thier national languages as, Tamil is not read or written by many Tamilians. And is only spoken. There is a good population in Vietnam also. Not to speak about people from Eelam, they are also every where. My intention is to start this project, and if successful, then we hav pushed the result atleast an inch towards us.

even before I opened your mail first thing that came to my mind is the Animation movie. hope it happens sometime in the future.
Hi; If we cant do PS as an animation movie right now then atleast we can make PS comics. This would surely widen the readership of this book. Hope we can do this soon.
Actually, there had been lots of discussion, that happened, with Sps, Krupa, etc and many members of my known circle.
1. Investment will be sky rocketing. 2. Skilled and COMMITED man power availability. 3. Completion within the estimated time, with 15% contingency. 4. Marketing 5. Copyright, this will play a very difficult and crucial role.
Comic, will attract the young readers, we can make them understand the greatness of our culture, history and language. Thats what my intention is, unless proved wrong..;o)!
I am in Chennai tonight, and planning to speak to one of my employee, who had been managing his father's press at Triplicane. I hope he can give me some monetay information about the project, related to paper and printing charges. But, I have no idea, about the picturization. Who can do it? and what will be thier cost.
I will share this information, with you, before taking a step forward.
Have you heard of Lion Comics and Muthu Comics ? Probably they are the only comics publishers in Tamil that stood the test of time. You can see new issues in few news stands quite frequently..
They have a website as well www.lioncomics.com
They often reprint old titles from the 60s and 70s era like "Irumpukkai Mayavi" etc., and they seem to have a big fanfare.
Dear all, My elder brother does 2D Computer animation. His long time goal is to make a animation movie...As said by others in this forum, comics is a very good step in introducing PS to our children and future generation. I am sure he could be of use in making comics since they are like storyboard of 2D animation movies. You can contact him at 09884389310. His email id is [email protected] His name is Y. M. Sudarsan. My house is in Nanganallur, Chennai. A room has been converted into an art studio. For your Information, he has inherited knowledge of art from my maternal grandfather, Late. Prof. R. Krishna Rao, who was the Principal of College of Arts and Crafts, Chennai. With Regards, Ragothaman
Just now watching the making of the animation movie called cars. Wow i have no words to explain the amount of hard work they are putting in to it, For them I think there is no difference between a animation and a cartoon as they work collabratively. I guess making a cartoon is half the effort for an animation movie.
Wow, it was like those guys are a 10-15 years ahead in technology and thinking there.
Sorry for the delayed mail, I might be out of context now.
Do we have a committed budget? Do we know our target audience? who would be expected to buy these comics? If we are able to recover the money (meaning non-profit basis) and be able to show that our costs can be recovered we should go with the comics!!! Other option would be to plug into an individual/organisation that can sponsor money for the promotion of tamil culture and literature amongst the school children(both english medium, tamil medium)
Animation can only thought if we are able to pull in an audience which is eager to take up our comics series.
