Ok, people...plans are afoot for the next trip - this time, to Pudukottai and Trichy.
Pudukottai, to see Sithannavaasal and related areas, the Sudharsanam Institute (maintained by Mr. Swaminathan, who's kindly invited us), gather info for a possible 'Sivagamiyin Sabadham Trip' later on, and possibly a visit to Dr. Kalaikovan and his institute too.
Exactly how much we're going to see is rather tentative, and so are the dates. At present, the weekend of June (7th and 8th) is favoured. We're not sure if a couple of days will be enough too.
Very good idea. There are quite a number of places to see around pudukottai and trichy - all associated with Pallavas and cholas. Try to concentrate on known as well as unknown places - ofcourse, subjected to time constraints. Visiting Mr.Kalaikovan and Prof.Swaminathan will certainly give a big boost to the trip. If possible, see whether Dr.Kalaikovan is on some new archaeological expetition (he has a band of people under Dr.Rasamanickanar varalatru maiyam and they frequently undertake many expetitions around tamizhnadu) - and try to participate in it. My Best wishes. S.Gokul.
Please do include me for the Pudukottai trip. I shall only be too happy. I live in Chennai normally and am in Ashok Nagar, and walk through the entire Postal colony and adjoining areas every morning between 5.30 and 7.00 am. I can easily be contacted on my e mail address as I surf the net atleast once a day. Thanks to you for doing a great job! Sundaram.
Glad that the Pudukottai trip is getting a good response. But I'd like to add a few points here about it:
1. The dates are still tentative. The reason? Mr. Swaminathan, who runs the Sudharsanam Institute in Pudukottai is going abroad soon, and we'd like to plan the trip according to his convenience. So we're waiting for his reply.
2. We're yet to decide on the actual itinerary.
Will keep posting as and when more details are available.
