Dear Friends, I have started an article on Gwalior which I visited last year. Gwalior as a city is a metropolis of architectural marvels as it has temples dated to ninth century CE and palaces of 19th century CE as well. The city was in constant habitation and one of the largest princely state which formed the Madhya Bharat state after India's independence.
An eleventh century inscription talking about a bridge constructed by Rama by the help of monkeys would be an interesting study. Teli ka mandir is a nice early example of valabhi (wagon vault) shikhara. Chaturbhuja temple is a rock cut temple envisaging all major constituents of a Hindu temple. An inscription at this temple is the first inscriptional evidence of usage of zero.
