Some of you might be interested in the attached research paper titled: “ Saluvankuppam coastal temple- excavation and application of soil micromorphology” authored by Badhreenath, Achuthan, Haricharan and Mohandas – a collaborative research conducted by ASI and Geology dept of Anna University reported in Research Communications in April 2011. The paper concludes based on measurements of the construction material that the temple material belongs to the time frame 4th/5th century CE to 12th/13th century CE. You might note that this conclusion suggests a younger temple than was previously suggested (which was not based on scientific data).
