Thiruvidaimarudur Sri Mahalinga Swamy Temple Theppam Festival
Thiruvidaimarudur Sri Mahalinga Swamy Temple is one of the Panchakrosha Sthalas. Thiruvidaimarudur is located around 8 k.m north of Kumbakonam TOWN It is also called Madhyarjuna. The presiding Deity is Mahalinga (Great Linga) because Siva worshipped Himself. His consort is Perunalamamulaiammai. She is Bruhatsundara Gujamabika. Saint Sambandar, Appar, Sundarar and Manikkavasakar have visited and praised the Lord. Pattinathar and Karuvoor Thevar Sung Psalms about the Deity. The shrine is famous for removal of BRAHMMA HATHI DHOSHAM. The Big Tank (Theppa Kulam) is there. The Theppam Festival is also famous in this temple.
