    Kamadhenu's calf “patti” is said to have
    worshipped Shiva here. So, this place is called patteswaram. Shiva is
    said to have blessed Thirugnanasambandar with an pandal lined with pearls, to
    protect him from the scorching summer sun, and is said to have requested the
    Nandi to move aside, in order to be able to look at the sight of his arrival
    here.So, Thirugnanasambandar play a important role in this temple. The
    Three day festival Gnanapal(holy milk), pearl Pandal, and so on. Durga is also
    important deity of this temple.
