Therucherai Divyadesam Adi 18 Theerthavari In this Saranatha Divyadesam , Cauvery performed penance for 3000 years and obtained boons. The Perumal pleased with the tapaas, crawled to her as a child. To symbolize this, there is an idol of Cauvery with a child on her lap in this Pushkarani (Tank) which is opposite to the temple. Brahma made pots out of the earth from the Pushkarani here to store the Vedas during the pralaya. So, in this Adi 18, the Theerthavari is an important festival in this temple. On that day the Perumal goes to river and performed the Theerthavari Festival with poojaa to the River . No other Perumal Temple having this type of Festival on that particular day.
