i think this group can really contribute if we did a combined analysis of post RRc tanjore its a huge historical fill in the gaps.
1. structural changes in temple complex post RRC 2. mentions of the temple in edicts of subsequent kings( is rajarajeshwaram mentioned or did they revert to old name) 3.mentions in texts like thirupugazh 4 any other details
i hope vj can write about the first two and ravi on 3
Also - Though Rajendra is a Siva Charana Sekaran, he built many vishnu temples Manimangalam, Vadamadurai ( Periyapalayam), Cheranmadevi Ramaswamy,Cheranmadevi Bhaktavatsala temple, Mannarkoil and some more ( could not recollect immediately) Is there any specific reason? Most of them are actually new temples.
I think a good place to start is to look at the work that's been done before. I know that B Venkatraman mentions the post-RRC time in either one or two chapters in his book, Rajarajeswaram. Unfortunately, I only had a borrowed copy, which I don't have anymore.
Let's also try enumerating the original RRC structures in the campus.
1. The main temple, vimanam and mandapams 2. Chandikeswara shrine 3. Both main Gopurams 4. The walls (both or only one? Which was the one that Krishnan Raman built)?
