Who compiled this list of five great epics? It is interesting to note that 2 of them are Buddhist, 2 of them are Jaina and one is considered neutral but definitely Jaina influence.
Is this because these were written just before the end of the 1st millennium; before the firm establishment of Hinduism as we now know it.
I raise this question after reading the English translation of Manimekalai by Alain Daniélou.
On a side note, it felt like reading the screenplay for Vittalacharya movie :-)
