freinds, last week i found a few stone images of the engineers of the chidambaram koil. it was found in the northern gate. it was beneath the krishna devaraya image. there were six images each with a name, their father's name and village of origin. the letters looked in some what later period tamil(? 14th century). atleast one i could decipher as "asari thirumarungan". the images are about 12 inches. they are well dressed with a prominant head gear. they have folded hands. it was so exciting for me. i did not take photograph yet. i will do shortly.
besides i also found an image of kulothunga-2 in the 100 pillar hall southern entrance gate. this corresponds with the other images of him in the eastern and western gates where he stands with ? sekkizhar.
