Some basic doubts exist in my mind. Now we say that just because the southern land mass was submerged by sea,Pandyas of first 2 sangam ages moved north. But now the govt. says Indus valley civilization is proto Dravidian and the migration happened from north to south. Whichis thecorrect line of thought? My other question is that if Indus valley civilization is indeed proto-Tamil or proto-dravidian, than we should have similarcity ruinssimilar to the Lothal, mohenjadro, harappa, etcat least 1 inanyof the southern states.
So what is the actual direction of migration of Tamil civilization? North to south? South to North?
1. Tamil is the spoken language in vedic times. The various Indus finds have a connection with Tamil is SHOWN to confirms this. The written language was also Tamil.
According to this theory Sanskrit is much later. ( It should be kept in mind that the language of Vedas is not sanskrit as most think but is called Sundus. Sanskrit originated from this root language. Again it should not be confused with the other sundus which is Meter like our Venpa, Asiriyapa)
Thanks for the explanation on Human migration. We are speaking of two different migration patterns which are spaced out by at least 10s of thousands of years.
There should be atleast 1 line of thought which should have some semblance of being right. Last sangam age is supposedly governed by 40+ different Kings of Pandya lines. Now, if each king did rule for a period of 20 years(conservatiely), we have a period of 800+ years for the last sangam age(official literary sources will say 3rd sangam was for 2000+ years). Please note all this at Madurai. For argument sake, lets say this is not the current city, but madurai itself has been moved at least 3 times due to floods, each time rebuilding this city in another location or close by. Even then we should at least 1 ruined city like the indus valley. Start of the Last sangam period in Madurai would coincide with the end of Indus valley civilization. Interestingly Adichanallur comes within the same timeperiod.
