Dear All Its really nice to hear and see all the efforts..Havent had time to catch up. I really wish I could join you guys but I can only do it mentally. Just a few suggestions.
.The return Kodikarai to thanjavur will take you quite some time due to the condition of the roads.
.The vallam near Thanjavur does not have anything to do with PS.nd its a very small place.nothing spectacular.
.If interested you can see the Alleged Singala nachiyar koil near the Stadium on the medical college road.
.If possible try to do the kumbakonam..thanjavur bits during day time that will really give you an idea of the Chozha vazhanadu..All the lush green feilds, the coconut grooves...long and winding rivers.
.On the way back try to get back to NH5 you can do it from thirivaiyaru or even kumbakonam as that will save you a lot of time.
.If possible try taking pictures and videos for the not so fortunates like me.
.See the European Sculpture on the North face of the brahadeeswara temple..and tell us what you think.
.One of you may be contact the local press and let them know atleast kalki..Pavithra ?
.As you go into thanjavur from kumbakonam or leave thanjavur towards kumbakonam and thiruvaiyaru you ll see vadavaru...so that ll give you the idea of the northern extend of the city. You will also see a east gate though from the maratha period as the eastern extend of the city. When I see vadavaru I usually visualise VD carrying KM on his shoulder.
.If you are going all the way to Thanjavur...Its worth atleast driving past the tamil university.
11. 5 miles east of thanjavur on the nagapattinam road is the Thanjavur mariyamman koil very powerful deity.
Nagapattinam..its quite a detour but I doubt if anything from the chola period is physically there..ask the experts.
.And visualise for yourself that there are no hills or rocks in the vicinity of thanjavur so the effort involved in the Big temple.
.Safe journey..Its one of a kind..have fun..May the lord go with you.
