I had been to mamallai on sunday and noticed two things.
1. Durga relief in the Varaha Mandapam had a devotee, removing his eye. 2. Draupadi ratha has a devotee trying to sever his head.
I was sure it was self-sacrifice, but could not place it in Navakandam. If anyone has notes or information on these sculptures, please do post them. I do have pictures of the same and will post them later.
