Great Carnatic Composer Muthuswami Dhikshtar had composed a song on Lord Bruhadeeshwara, wherein he mentions, Raja Rajendhra Chola did the Idol install of Lord Bruhadeeshwara.
The Song is in Raga, Gundakriya..Triputa Thalam...
Any opinions? What made him base the song on Raja Rajendra and not on Raja Raja?

Hi sometime back we had a news in this group that til the british discovered the epigraphy in the big temple it was always thought to be karikalan who built the temple. this is news that matters now. what was the time line of muthu swami dikshithars times.
Hi; Mr.Venketesh is right, I too have heard about this British "discovery"(in the 1920s-30s? i think?) of who built the temple. This could be the news which changes this belief. Again, we keep proving that probably poetry is the place to look for information about our past and not written documents. I think just because all around the world archaeologists discover stone tablets, etc here too we tend to assume everything has to be written somewhere or its false. Our ancestors dint feel the need to write because thier poetry contained everything. Nice!
