another Devil's Advocate - a bit late though
  • Folks,

thought I might add my two cents to the present discussion about
collecting money and other attached issues.

I personally feel, that getting involved with money is not a good
one. It creates problems even among known friends. And, here we are,
people who have not even seen eachother. It is not that I dont trust
you guys or value you less or anything like that. But, after a period
of time, MONEY does create problems.

I think, we can get involved in activities needing Vitamin M later.
But not at this point of time. We already have a lot to do. Why, dont
    we concentrate on those.

Some members of the group could visit Vellore and get in touch with
the historians and offer to bring their works online. But, you have
to be sure that their works are validated ones. We dont want to get
involved with people who comeup with unsubstanciated claims.

I for one, would say, Lets followup on bringing old historical books
    online along with research papers.

BTW, What is the copy right law in India? I remember reading
somewhere that Literary works are copyrighted for a period of 75
years. What happens after that. Can the authors or publishers renew
the copyrights or does it lapse?

If it's lapsed, then why dont we try to bring them online.

We, could get involved with the Sudharsanam project too - for which
Dr.Swaminathan has already asked our help.

Hope, I have not hurt anyone by saying that I am reluctant to bring
    money into the equation.

    anpudan,
