18 Panchaloha idols unearthed near Thanjavur Wednesday September 5 2007 14:57 IST UNI THANJAVUR: Centuries-old 18 Panchaloha idols were unearthed from 'Sri Narayaneswara Swamy temple' at Narayanamangalam village in Tiruvarur district, on Tuesday.
Temple authorities found the idols while at the temple complex area of this ancient Chola period temple.
The idols unearthed included that of lord Vinayaka, lord Paramasiva, and goddess Parvati.
All the idols were taken by the Tahsildar for safe custody. However, the temple authorities requested the Tahsildar to return the idols to be installed in the temple.
