  • Dear all...

Hey Poo...that was a nice, informative mail- lots of useful tidbits.

    Here's a tidbit I came across myself...

Remember the 'pallipadai' we saw in the Thiruvalanchuzi temple complex?
Apparently, that isn't a pallipadai at all. Its a shrine dedicated to an
aspect/form of Lord Shiva- Lord Kshethra Bala. When the shrine collapsed,
the ASI people removed the deity to the Thanjavur Museum.

Pallipadais aren't built inside temple complexes, apparently. They're
separate, independant structures (Ex. The Panchavan Maadevi pallipadai).

    > Why should we care about these "Agama" and sentimental factors?
    >let it be a old heritage. After seeing the incident of "Kannagai
    >Statue" & "Q.M.C." Buildings, i'm really fed up with these things.

Ah...these things-' agamas' and other theories- are not exactly without
foundation. I believe they're extremely important in temple building.
