I got the vcd and watched it. There are certain things that i want to write. First of all , i want to thank all the people who decided to prepare a cd and send it to all, who could not come for the trip. I can understand and realize how much effort u people have put in making this thing happen. If there is one word to say about the cd , it can be none other than "arputham".
I am also one of among few who felt personally that the PS egroup is going a little bit away from its original intended directon, which is discussing about PS. Nowdays, there are lot of members and there are lot more mails than it was two-three months ago. There are topics which are not related to PS at all, such as Kovil Thirupani, and the usage of thamizh in emails and what not. But, beleive me, after seeing the vcd, i got answers to all the questions that disturbed my mind about this group.I was excited to see that there is a group of people who love to discuss about PS. But i felt bad when the topics were off beat sometimes. After watching the cd, I couldn't control my tears on seeing the condition in whch the temples are maintained. Afterall, they represent our cultural heritage. PS is a story, but a real story of what has happened some 1000 years back. If we should say in Bala's bani, "raththamum sathayumai vazhnthavargalai patriya kathai". 1000 varudangalukku mun vazhntha maanudaththai patriya, nammai patriya kathai. Now, i can understand why u people are talking about kovil thiruppani in many mails. Being in DC, u dont get that kind of oppurtunity many times in life. We do it for self satisfaction. Here the temples are pretty clean. In the Cd, i can name few temples which are maintained really really bad. I really envy you guys that u are able to contribute and i cannot. I dont know how i am going to pay back my balances because of not doing this work. I again envy you friends, that u people are going for second trip to see all similar places like this. As i have mentioned in one of earlier mails, it is unfortunate for any kalki fan to be in US this year.
I dont know what was the purpose of making this cd. But, beleive me friends, the seed for lot of things were already laid in my mind by just watching this cd. It will be very difficult for anyone who read ps with involvement and passion, and has seen this cd, not to do anything for these temples.
I have one suggestion. What about attaching this cd with all the ps books hereafter. Will kalki publication be able to do that. We can give it for free. In that way, we can say that ps is not only a story but also a book which talks about our cultural heritage, which talks about people like us who lived 1000 years ago. We can also let people know about the condition of all these temples. Just a thought that falshed in my mind.
I think the varnanai is given by Ezhuthu Chittar Balakumaran. Or atleast , i'll say the script should have been written by him. The commentary is awesome and the person who took the video can claim himself as a video grapher. IT was so professional and i could hardly miss anything. Obviously, nothing can match visiting those plces live. But, otherwise, it was really really fantastic. Thanks sathya for sending the cd. Ethanai copy venumnalum sollunga, nan pirathi eduthu tharugiren.....
Veru ondrum illai Ezhuthuvatharkku,
