We use this Ranimuthu Tamil Calender. Today it says "Thiruvalanchuzhi Swetha Vinayakar Thiruvizha Thodakkam". Earlier years, had I seen this, I would have just not remembered and add any significance to this info.
Since we visited this temple last August, this Kutti Swetha Vinayagar is sitting fresh in my memory, thanks to this PS group, the Thanjavur trip, to SPS, to Swetha, and also to that Gurukkal in Thiruvalanchuzhi temple!
I could think of Him and put white flowers to our house Ganesha asking Him to accept it at Thiruvalanchuzhi.
It was earlier thought that swetha vinayagar could be a latter addition. But Inscriptional study has confirmed the presence of swetha vinayagar to chola times. He is fondly referred to as "Vellai pillaiyar" in inscriptions confirming that he was white during installation. The sea froth myth does not seem to have been understood by then.
The pillaiyar shrine and its architecture is remarkable and deserves attention. The position of the temple in the overall temple complex also deserves some attn.
