Walls Stronger than concrete!
  • Tamils were well known to make wonders in construction.

They have used the mixture of Mud, Keppankali, vaikol, and pathaneer.
This mix is believed to be stronger than the concrete.

I was told by one of the tamil teacher that, once, when fort of Veera
Pandya Kattabomman was demolished by English the fort was rebuilt
using this mixture over night and with Hay within the wall to create
vaccum. The english 'beerangees' had a very tough time breaking
    through the fort walls.

    Rajendhra Cholan!
  • Unfortunately we are not finding such structures around even after all these years.. Also there has always been exagerations in most of our history or culture related things. So I am a little sceptic about this kind of mixture being stronger...
  • Hi

some of these ethnic formulae for building material cannot be
disregarded totally. though they may not be the apt ones to use in
    today's high rises.
wall plastering using egg whites was the vouge in chettinad of the
late 19th and early 20th century. a wonder- they used millions of eggs
when organised poultry was not in force. ( used to wonder what they
would do with a million yolks?) if you observe it even today they are
still shiny and smooth as white marble with no plaster cracks.
