Mission and vision of this group
  • Dear Madhav,
These are the missions and visions of this group - as I understand.

    * To enjoy, debade and analyze the characters and events of Ponniyin
    Selvan
and other historic novels of Amarar Kalki.

    * To know and share vital information on Tamil and Indian history -
    particularly those around cholas.

    * To promote and share this interest in public; to raise the general
awareness about our culture, Temples and heritage.

    * To work with various other groups and individuals with similar
    interests
    and goals.

    * To make use of all media - to promote our activities

These are just some - which I would call - top priorities.

If you have been following the activities carefully, the group has
    not just
been chit chatting about this, but has done many things concrete:

    * The group went for a tour around the places featured in PS. This
    was
covered in Kalki and Sun TV.

    * It is preparing itself for a second tour around pudukottai and to
    meet
very important personalities in the above fields.

    * It has come out with a VCD which will be used to collect funds for
    Dr.Rajamanickanar Institute Of Historic Research.

    * It has been participaring in Project Madurai to Proofread Ponniyin
    Selvan
    e-text.

The purpose of these visits - with respect to our main goals can be
    easily
understood. You should first witness and appreciate these thing
    YOURSELF
before you start preaching to others.

Many other things are going to come in the agenda - in the near
    future and
    you can contribute to this.

Many elite personalities around the globe, who have contributed much
    to the
tamil society at large- are members of this group - Dr.Jaybee,
    Dr.Kalyanasundaram, Dr.Kannan...to quote a few names.

I fully appreciate your zeal in asking this question - only
    individuals
with thirst to do concrete things can raise such questions. But
    certainly
this is not a "kumbalodu govinda" type of group! Hope you'll agree.
  • Dear Madhav,
I hope you have understood the visions and missions of this group very nicely elucidated Gokul. Its very easy to criticise..I know you have been asking about the M and V of the group....But all you needed to do is read all the messages and collated message digests prepared by Gokul and me to give you a flavuor of the group....It took me 7 hrs to do it but that is what made me a part of this egroup as oppsed to other discussion forums which I thought lacked vision and direction...
If you read through the messages you ll see a group fascinated by an author's narration of a historic story are drawn together to disseminate the story and the art and also the language....
You ll find that they have contributed to peoples welfare...Vikatan donation collected by Kamal and Pavithra...
You ll find awareness articles in Indian express by Dhanya..
You ll find brain teasers , puzzles, crosswords on the novel....
You ll find guys and gals various attempts to communicate in tamil downloading fonts ,,,kadalamittai thanglish....because they had the desire to communicate and celebrate the language...
You ll find how intellectual the discussions are except a promo on tamil software and use of unparlimentary words once...well moderated by Ram...
You wont know how many of our members go to internet cafes to pay and browse and respond.....please dont call them KUMBALLA GOVINDA...thats not sharing...thats not even polite....
Education is three phases...you get in ....you absorb....then you give away....that is what learned people like Dr jayabarathi Dr kalaikovan...Gokul are all doing.
Please read about the group before making such statements it hurts....
