That is very intersting It raises another question. Is this something the Tamilians developed on their own or did they acquire knowledge about this from the Romans?
Do you have a photo of that Mandapam? And I am curious to know where this incident is narrated.

Sorry have missed a bit of fun....was it based on archimedes principle of the displaced volume of water in a pond and replaced with the volume with gold?????difficult to do the same in the river unless there was a special arrangement to channelise the displaced water....sorry too much work last night am I blabbering. sridhar
