Importance of Temples & Uzhavaarap pani
  • Hi Pavitra
That was absolutely wonderful account and more than that a very noble
deed. Infact, you have just begun something which can - infact -
become a big movement, as suggested by Dr.Kannan in PS group sometime
ago (Members - please visit file section on Dr.Kannan's note).
If we read history, we come to know that Temple was not just a place
of worship in olden times - it was an institution by itself.
It was a school, college, centre for arts and music, land authority,
centre for spiritual movement, centre for festivals and celebrations
and what not? That is why so many endowment were made to preserve
this institution in olden days. Alas ! how things have changed!
In the present context, we have to view temples - not just as places
of spiritual or religious importance - but as cultural and heritage
windows to a glorious past. We should preserve this - not just for
our own sake - but also for the generations to come.
Let us take it further - as Dr.Kannan has suggested. People like me -
who are not in India right now - are not fortunate enough to
participate in these activities - physically. But we will stand
besides you people as a group - supporting, encouraging and spreading
    this news around the world!
Best wishes and keep it up!
